About The Comfortable Room

From a motorised orthopaedic bed to curtains that close on demand, adjustable lighting and a specially-commissioned film projection showing Blackpool in all its beauty, The Comfortable Room invites you to relax and experience the seaside without leaving your bed (if you don’t want to). Inspiration for The Comfortable Room came from a variety of sources, including the artists friendship and collaborative practice over eight years of working together. Having stayed in some awful accommodation whilst touring theatre shows, Mattocks, who has an often invisible disability, also had a longing to create a ‘place of care’ for the room’s guests.
